Jorge Bernardino

Brief Bio
Jorge Bernardino received the Ph.D. degree in computer science from the University of Coimbra in 2002. He is a Coordinator Professor at ISEC (Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Coimbra) of the Polytechnic of Coimbra, Portugal. His main research fields are big data, data warehousing, business intelligence, open source tools, and software engineering. He is actually President of Scientific Council of ISEC.

Ana Fred

Brief Bio
Ana Fred received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering, in 1989 and 1994, respectively, both from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal. She is a Faculty Member of IST since 1986, where she has been a professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and more recently with the Department of Biomedical Engineering. She is a researcher at the Pattern and Image Analysis Group of the Instituto de Telecomunicações. Her main research areas are on pattern recognition, both structural and statistical approaches, with application to data mining, learning systems, behavioral biometrics, and biomedical applications. She has done pioneering work on clustering, namely on cluster ensemble approaches. Recent work on biosensors hardware (including BITalino – and ECG-based biometrics (Vitalidi project) have been object of several nacional and internacional awards, as well as wide dissemination on international media, constituting a success story of knowledge transfer from research to market. Frans Coenen

Brief Bio
Prof Frans Coenen is a Professor of Computer Science at The University of Liverpool, UK. He has 36 years of experience of working in AI, ranging from early work on driverless ships to current work on deep and machine learning. He is particularly interested in the application of the techniques of Machine Learning to unusual data sets, such as: (i) graphs and social networks, (ii) time series, (iii) free text of all kinds, (iv) 2D and 3D images, particularly medical images, and (v) video data. He is also interested in data mining over encrypted data. He currently leads a small research group working on many aspects of Machine Learning and AI. He has some 450 refereed research publications, and has been on the programme committees for many Machine Learning and AI conferences and related events. David Aveiro is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Engineering at the University of Madeira (UMa) in Portugal. His research interests include enterprise engineering and digital innovation. He teaches subjects in undergraduate and master degrees in informatics engineering in the areas of enterprise engineering, information systems, database management systems and decision support systems. David holds a Master's and Doctor's degree in Informatics Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon and coordinates several European and national funded research and digital innovation projects, both at the University of Madeira and at the Regional Agency for the Development of Research, Technology and Innovation (ARDITI). ... Jan Dietz is emeritus professor at Delft University of Technology, and visiting professor at the University of Lisbon and the Czech Technical University in Prague. He has always combined academic work with applying research outcomes in practice. He has supervised over 300 M.Sc.’s and 16 Ph.D.’s and he has published over 250 scientific and professional papers as well as several books. Elio Masciari is currently Associate Professor at University of Naples Federico II. He was senior researcher at the Institute for High Performance Computing and Networks (ICAR-CNR) of the National Research Council of Italy. His research interest include Database Management, Semistructured Data and recently Big Data. He has been advisor of several master thesis at the University of Calabria and at Univeristy Magna Graecia in Catanzaro. Colette Rolland is Professor Emeritus at the University Paris1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Her research interests lie on topics such as conceptual modelling, methodologies and support tools, method engineering, requirements engineering, business process modelling, co-evolution, IS and business alignment and change management. She has been involved in a large number of European research projects and she is used to lead cooperative research projects with companies. Colette has an extensive experience in supervising PhD theses (110); she published about 350 reviewed papers in Journals and Conferences, cumulated 10000 citatio ns, has been editor of 30 Conference Proceedings, is member of the board of 10 International Journals and has delivered more than 60 keynote talks in International Conferences. She is an IFIP officer, IEEE member and received several awards such as IFIP Silver Core, IFIP service Award, Franqui’s Foundation award (Belgium) and European award of ‘Information Systems’.
